“Is that even possible?’’ I wondered, as I gazed in awe at the fearless skater. As I saw a young boy skating, his face was really stern in concentration, which caused him to frown. The boy was named kyron, and he was at the skate park every afternoon. He shifted his weight, allowing his board to rotate in the air. When he was riding his skate board, his body was silhouetted against the soft pink dusk sky. Then, when it reached evening, there was a heat haze that covered the city in a steamy blanket, turning the hills into a pastel mauve. As I was watching him, he knew what I was thinking.

He had rich indigo velvet, folded carefully to frame his face.
